Bulkhead Replacement
![]() A previous deck leak above has caused extensive rot in the bulkhead plywood | ![]() The mahogany plywood has lost its structural integrity and the aesthetic veneer. | ![]() The bulkhead has been removed leaving a clean sound edge on the remaining bulkhead |

![]() New 3/4 inch plywood has been installed. Both the bulkhead edge and the hull edges were fiber-glassed for rigidity and for bonding purposes. | ![]() A second structural replacement was necessary between the berth and the salon. The narrow insert was removed during a prior repair and never finished by the mechanic | ![]() The new mahogany panel is made using the 1/4 inch plywood with a 15 degree bevel. The cardboard template on the right was used for an exact fit. |
![]() A trim router and the installed straight edge is used mill a 1/4 inch deep straight edge. The router is pictured at the base of the photo | ![]() The panel is installed and is ready for finishing with polyurethane | ![]() The veneer on the remaining bulkhead must be cut in a straight line with a 15 degree bevel to ensure a tight seam when the new veneer is installed. |

Restoration

This entrance was in need of refinishing

Note the variations in color. There were 4-5 layers of old varnish that kept moisture in once wetted. After stripping was completed it was evident that a previous refinisher had sanded through the finish layer of the center plywood panel.

After removal of old finish and application of 3 coats of a marine finish. Note the deep gloss.

Entertainment Console

The dash is cluttered and the TV is too low to view comfortably.

This entertainment center was custom made from 80 year old Oak. The console was built to fit in the pictured space and to support the stereo in the face panel and the TV on the top. This unit created space by replacing a bookshelf stereo and speakers

The interior of the console provides space for power, speaker connections and the audio unit.

Rub Rail Replacement

Some sections were found to be in advanced disrepair. The wood fibers were compromised due to repeated water saturation.

Note the thin black line between the 2 screw holes. It is actually a continuous crack.

This rail was sanded and repaired prior to the 3 coat topcoat finish application.
