Boston Whaler Refit

1968 Boston Whaler

This classic boat had 55 years of novice electrical repairs and wear and tear on the Helm console.  Here the console has been stripped of 5 decades of poly finish.

The surface was prepped and fastidiously cleaned in preparation for finishing

Structural Repair 2 (continued)

The parts are set and clamped. Once cured, the epoxy and the pieces are shaped to mirror the original design on the Starboard side.

Helm Refinish

The face grain plugs were custom made for each application

Electrical Up-Grades 2

The glass fuse panel was corroded and in need of replacement.  The blade type fuse panel is convenient and safe.  A new blower replaced the old melted blower and the wiring was replaced and organized.

After 16 holes were plugged, the windscreen rebuilt, the old finish removed and surface washed and sanded--- 6 Coats of Spar Urethane were applied.

Console Structural Repair 1

The Port side windscreen had been broken and reglued a number of times prior.  To make a lasting repair the glass was removed and the wind shield disassembled at the prior breaks.

Structural Repair 2

The break points were stripped of finish and glue.  An advanced epoxy was tinted to match the finished Mahogany and then mixed and applied to the break points.

Helm Refinish

With the console stripped, all unnecessary and unused holes were drilled and filled with face grain mahogany plugs.

Electrical Up-Grades

  The old switch bank was removed and a new illuminated 5 switch bank was installed.
